The Enderby Wind Band was established in September 2005.
A traditional wind band format, we cater for all wind and brass instruments and our range of players currently includes Clarinets, Flutes and Piccolo, Saxophones, Oboe, Bassoon, Trumpets, Cornets, Horns, Euphonium, Trombones, Tuba and Percusionists.
The band attracts a wide range of players of all ages and abilities who share a passion for playing music together.
Maybe you used to play an instrument at school or university and haven't played for a while, or you're playing now and want to play in a group. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and inviting bunch who enjoy playing music together, helping each other to develop as well as enjoying social outings as well!
Our players pay a monthly subscription (£5 if you're in education, £10 if you're working) but we don't ask you to pay straight away - if you'd just like to come along for a couple of rehearsals and see if you like it you'd be more than welcome.
Each year the band performs at many venues and events across the county. You can find the current list of concerts and events on the events page. If you would like the band to play at an event for or near you, please let us know!
If you think that this would appeal to you then please get in touch via email: email@example.com. The band rehearse every Wednesday in the Enderby Village Institute from 19.30 – 21.30.
Tony has been active on the East Midlands music scene for most of his life. By the time he was 16, he was playing both trumpet and drums semi-professionally. In 1983, at the age of 22, knowing he wanted to spend his life immersed in music, he went into business as a musical instrument retailer, founding Mel-Tone, the music shop in Melton Mowbray. He continued to run the shop for the next 30 years, eventually closing the door for the last time in June 2012.
After spending almost a year as a peripatetic music teacher, Tony was appointed as Area Music Leader for North and North-East Leicestershire by Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service (LSMS), having responsibility for overseeing instrumental music tuition across the region. In addition, he is now also Performance Development Manager for LSMS and is the conductor of Leicestershire Schools Training Band.
As a player, he has played in everything from punk bands to symphony orchestras and enjoys them all equally. He currently plays percussion, guitar, trumpet and sings with Functionality, a professional function band, as well as waving the baton at various bands, orchestras, choirs and operatic societies across the Midlands. He is currently Musical Director of Enderby Wind Band and Great Bowden Recital Trust Jazz and Swing Band and Sax Choir.
